Beginning something new.
There is a critical choice when beginning something new. Beginnings are filled with promise — the possibilities can be alluringly expansive. Yet we may also feel a certain nagging doubt, fumbling around with something we have little proficiency in.
We face the same choice a thousand times. Do we listen to our initial impulse — that place of inspiration, our believing self, the part of us that can glimpse the future and has a certain faith that if we keep going, reality will eventually collapse into our vision?
Or do we stop?
We have the option to avoid witnessing ourselves as failures — to avoid the frustration and pain of fumbling and falling all over something that a non-beginner seems to do easily. That can be scary.
Most of us answer that choice in a habitual way. Which is worth noticing — if the answer is habitual, it's less about the specific choice and more about who's answering it. So: do you believe in something better for yourself, or not? And why do you think that's your answer?
